I don't print everything I photograph. A frame makes it to this page only after it's survived a year of consideration — and only if I hang it on my own wall first. Everything here has earned its place. And nothing prints until it's ready.

The fourth night I camped out by Folly Point, everything held. 26 exposures in twelve minutes. This is the one I kept — the moment the primordial first light breaks through a cloud. It rakes across the landscape, etching shape, form and detail. The waves seem to greet the light.
